Martin Flavell established Martin Flavell & Associates on a culture of uncompromising commitment to excellence. To work for the company, you had to rise to his exacting standards and deliver exceptionally, no matter what your station in the enterprise. This culture remains in the organisation to this day.
In 1987, Martin was recognised for his achievements in the timber trade with the President’s Award for Export Achievement, a prestigious accolade signed by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. Rarely conferred on companies of the size of Martin Flavell & Associates at the time, it underscored the spirit of pioneering that has always been at the heart of what we do.

Timber exports remain a core business, with record volumes recorded year on year since 2018. Evergreen Forestry is a vertically integrated, sustainably focused forestry company managing seven plantations across the KZN Midlands. Evergreen Forestry grows its own trees for pulp and sawmilling, with an increasing focus on the sawmilling value chain.
